We, the European Central Bank (ECB), are inviting applications for the position of IT Expert (Oracle Database Systems Engineer).
Job Location: Frankfurt, Germany
The successful applicant will be entrusted with the following main tasks:
- making conceptual proposals and recommendations for improving the existing IT system landscape in cooperation with the architecture and security functions
- contributing to, or managing, IT tasks and projects within the team and Section, including:
- seeking and researching new, innovative solutions and designs, as well as contributing to designs of IT solutions in line with user requirements
- ensuring that new solutions are thoroughly tested and that the required technical documentation is produced with the appropriate level of quality and detail
- implementing and transferring the solutions and knowledge to data centre operations and contributing to budget planning and TCO calculations
- seeking and researching new, innovative solutions and designs, as well as contributing to designs of IT solutions in line with user requirements
- providing third-level support for Oracle databases, including the analysis of problems, as well as identifying any need for preventive or remedial maintenance
- developing and implementing infrastructure and applications concepts (from design to implementation) for the Oracle databases and IT service management applications for the ECB and ESCB
- maintaining accurate and up-to-date technical documentation for each application (including operational requirements and release management plans), transferring knowledge to colleagues and ensuring sufficient documentation is available for tasks to be assigned to first and second-level support
- participating in recovery and contingency exercises and ensuring that IT operations and support staff can recover systems in accordance with the predefined plans and documentation
- actively participating in the technical management of external service providers and supervision of external resources
- involvement in the preparation of documentation for public tenders and contract negotiations;
- contributing to IT service management processes
- keeping abreast of the IT technologies used at the local and global level, as well as of the IT market and technical developments relevant to the ECB and ESCB and
- involvement in activities improving the output and processes of the Section and the Division
